29 April, 2017

The air defence system of Russia in the far East is in a state of high alert. About it RIA Novosti said the head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov.

"Russia is very closely following what is happening in North Korea. (...) We control the airspace in the area of responsibility of the air forces of the Russian Federation", — said the Senator.

According to him, the Russian military is "doing everything they can, in the event of an extraordinary situation to prevent accidental falling of missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation".

What would happen if the Americans will strike at the DPRK

Ozerov also noted that such actions of Pyongyang "increase the danger of a military conflict, given the deployment of US ships in the sea of Japan". However, the member of the Federation Council expressed the hope that the President of the United States Donald trump "will mark 100 days of his tenure as President strike" on North Korea.

On Friday, April 28, North Korea launched a ballistic missile, which, according to sources, to the class of medium-range missiles KN-17. The test, according to preliminary data, failed.

Tension in the region has increased in recent months in connection with missile launches of North Korea and rumors of a new nuclear test. Washington saysit prefers a diplomatic solution to the crisis, however, does not exclude that it may resort to military means. After the launch of North Korea's missiles at the beginning of April to the coast of the Korean Peninsula was sent to the American carrier strike group. At the end of the month in the Pacific began joint exercises of the group and of the Maritime self-defense forces of Japan.

Pyongyang has test-fired a ballistic missile that appears to have exploded within minutes after launch and never actually left North Korean airspace, according to the US Pacific Command and South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.

North Korea fired an unidentified missile from a site in the vicinity of Bukchang in Pyeongannam-do (South Pyeongan Province) early this morning," the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement, according to Yonhap.

It is estimated to have failed,” the JCS said.

Following remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman last week that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is “insane and radical,” Pyongyang responded on Saturday with strident rhetoric, calling Israel a threat to world peace, as it possesses nuclear weapons but refuses to acknowledge the fact.
